What's this book about?

Liz shares her journey in creating Sseko Designs, an ethical fashion brand providing jobs in Uganda. She learned a lot of lessons along the way and she shares them throughout the book. If you love fair trade, women entrepreneurs, working hard to see a dream come true, and exploring sustainable ways to break the cycle of poverty, then you'll love this book!

Liz is the founder of Sseko Designs and this funny and thought-provoking book walks us through her journey to bring it to life. Sseko is an ethical fashion brand that works to educate and empower women in Uganda by providing employment and educational opportunities. Sseko has grown from three women making sandals together under a mango tree, to an international fashion brand that provides employment to over 50 women.

Why I chose this book:

This was the first book I read in lockdown last March. I devoured it over a couple of days and couldn't put it down. It's funny and inspiring and an all-around fun read. I love that Liz also shares her faith story at the end of the book. This book brought back memories from our trip to Uganda in 2019. The people of Uganda captured my heart and so reading a book about the sights, sounds and experiences in this beautiful country was a joy!
