Book Synopsis: At Home in the World follows the journey of the Oxenreider family from China to New Zealand, Ethiopia to England, and more. They traverse bumpy roads, stand in awe before a waterfall that feels like the edge of the earth, and chase each other through three-foot-wide passageways in Venice. And all the while Tsh grapples with the concept of home, as she learns what it means to be lost—yet at home—in the world.

Why I chose this book to kick off the book club: It’s always been a dream of mine to do what the Oxenreider family does, take a year off and circumnavigate the globe. So reading the travel journal of a mom doing just that with her young family is spellbinding! For places I haven’t been, it opens my eyes to new possibilities. For places I have been, it takes me right back like I’m there in between the lines on the page. Tsh’s descriptions are funny, engaging, self-reflecting and thought-provoking. And she doesn’t shy away from sharing all their mishaps as well. I appreciated her honesty! Tsh writes from a Christian world-view and sprinkles little morsels here and there about what she learns about herself and her place in the world.
