I can't say enough about this book. Everyone should read it.
Leon Leyson was just ten years old when the Nazis invaded Poland and his family was forced to move to the Krakow ghetto. He along with some of the members of his family were fortunate enough to get on Schindler's list. With his incredible luck, perseverance, and will-to-live, Leyson was able to survive the horrific Nazis, his loss of freedom and deprivation of every human need. It is story of incredible courage and one that everyone should read.

We recently read this Newberry Honor book and were immediately drawn into the story. It's a tale of triumph through the hardships of war, disability, foster care, and loss. Nine-year-old Ada has never left her one-room apartment. Her mother is too humiliated by Ada’s twisted foot to let her outside. So when her little brother Jamie is sent on a train out of London to escape the Blitz of WW2, Ada doesn’t waste a minute—she sneaks out and goes with him.
This is a beautiful story that combines historical fiction, adventure and a tale of courage.
